Windowflowers wins Leicester City Council

A four year contract to plant and maintain hanging baskets, barrier planters and other bedding schemes has been recently awarded to Windowflowers by the City of Leicester. This followed a nationally advertised tender exercise with bids being submitted by many competing contractors. Commenting on the award, Sales Director, Miles Watson-Smyth said "Winning Leicester gives us the perfect springboard to expand our operations in the East Midlands, not only with other local authorities but also within the private sector."

New Cut Flower Operation

After an investment of £150,000 Windowflowers opened its purpose built 5000 sq ft cut flower unit in December. This incorporates a huge 1000sq ft refrigeration unit, big enough to hold 400,000 pints of milk! This is now the workplace for eight florists, arranging over 500 vases of flowers for reception desks, dining room tables and sideboards all over London and the South East.

Launch of The Biobasket

In addition to our traditional range,Windowflowers are introducing our most environmentally friendly hanging basket yet. Filled with 100% peat free compost, lined with an attractive by-product from carpet manufacturing, planted with draught resistant perennials chosen to encourage wildlife and biodiversity, these baskets will still produce colour and even fragrance.
